Logs is Easy

Once upon a time, there was a flood in the mid-west. I was involved in a disaster response organization, specializing in logistics, and I called up this guy and said

“Hey! If you delay the operation by a day, the waters will recede and my flight will come in so I can help you run logs!”

“Pffft. Nah. Logs is easy! Anyone can do it!” he said…

Then he proceeded to screw it all up. A 6-man operation, and he couldn’t get decent facilities, couldn’t figure out showers, told a volunteer the wrong location for the food (ON HER BIRTHDAY), had NO inventory (at all!) etc.

Basic n00b stuff.

So- The joke is on him. Logs is NOT easy. We are blamed for everything if it goes wrong and hardly ever given any credit when it goes right. But that’s ok- our source of ‘feel goods’ is seeing the ‘troops’ come in and feeling good, accomplished and relaxed.

I’ve had a patch made. So- if you ever hear someone say “Logs is Easy” – either they are an asshole, or they are in on the joke.
